Review management for franchise chains: every review answered within 24 hours

Online reputation management per location, with a consistent tone and escalation route.

By Gijs Bodenstaff · Updated:

With review management for franchise chains, reviews from all your locations are collected, monitored and answered within 24 hours, in your brand's tone. Reviews help determine whether a location ranks at the top of Google Maps and whether an AI assistant recommends it. Yet according to our benchmark, 90% of chains have no demonstrable process for this.

Why reviews carry more weight for franchise chains than you think

Reviews are the first thing a potential customer sees next to your location in Maps. They influence click-through, local rankings and the image of the entire brand. One badly handled negative review at one location can damage the reputation of the whole franchise brand.

In the Local SEO Benchmark Franchise Chains 2026, only 6 of the 100 largest Dutch chains responded to a review within 24 hours. That is a big opportunity for franchise brands that do get it right.

How does our review management per location work?

We follow a fixed process: collect, monitor, respond, escalate and report. We agree the tone with you in advance in a short style guide, so every response sounds like the brand.

What is and is not allowed when collecting reviews?

Buying reviews, posting fake reviews or only asking satisfied customers for a review ("review gating") is not permitted under Google's guidelines and may also breach consumer protection rules. We work exclusively with fair requests to all customers. The handbook describes in detail how this works under European regulations; see Local SEO 2026 voor Franchiseketens (Dutch-language edition).

How does review management connect with Local SEO and GEO?

Reviews are a fixed part of Google Maps optimisation for chains, and the content of reviews (which service, which employee, which experience) helps AI assistants choose a location. That is why it is also part of Generative Engine Optimisation. We prefer to send review requests automatically via email marketing for franchises.

Frequently asked questions about answering reviews per location

Do you answer reviews on behalf of the franchisee?
Yes, on behalf of the location and in the brand's tone. For complaints or sensitive situations, we first consult the franchisee or head office, following the agreed escalation route.
Can negative reviews be removed?
Only if they breach Google's guidelines, such as spam, fake reviews or hateful language. In that case we submit a removal request. We respond professionally to an honest negative review.
Review management: how quickly do you respond to reviews?
The standard is within 24 hours, seven days a week.
How do I get more reviews per location?
By asking every customer at a fixed moment, making it as easy as possible (a direct link or QR code) and showing that you respond. Automatic requests by email work best in most sectors.
Is review management included in a package?
Yes, it is included in the Growth package at €250 per location per month and in Full service. The Basic package only covers profile management.
What is review gating and why should a franchise chain avoid it?
Review gating means asking only satisfied customers for a review. Google's guidelines do not allow it, just as buying reviews or posting fake ones is not allowed, and it may also breach consumer rules. A franchise chain therefore sends every customer the same invitation and responds quickly and calmly to negative reviews.
How many franchise chains reply to reviews within 24 hours?
In the Local SEO Benchmark Franchise Chains 2026, only 6 of the 100 largest Dutch franchise chains replied to a review within 24 hours. That makes responding quickly a clear opportunity to stand out. Brands that manage the review process well at each location get noticed by customers in Google Maps and by AI assistants.
How do you make sure review replies from every location sound like the same brand?
By agreeing a short style guide for review replies with head office in advance. Your team approves the tone, the franchisee knows the rules and we write the replies and apply the style guide. That way every personal reply sounds like the brand, even across dozens of locations and with difficult complaints.
What happens when a franchise location receives a negative review?
A negative review is escalated to the location and head office on the same day, following the route agreed in advance. The franchisee resolves it locally, head office decides when it is escalated and we flag it and respond quickly, calmly and with a focus on solutions. That prevents one poorly handled review from damaging the whole brand's reputation.
Why do reviews help a franchise location in AI assistants?
Because AI assistants use reviews as a data source when choosing a location. The content of reviews, such as which service, which staff member and what experience, gives them context to recommend a location. That is why review management is also part of Generative Engine Optimisation, alongside the role of reviews in Google Maps ranking.
